Purple Finch - Is the New Hampshire state bird and is in the family Fringillidae - small to medium size birds with conical bills. Males and females have differently color plumage - as this male sports his bright feathers while his mate is pretty, but streaked brown instead of his royal purple. They are seed eaters and their short, conical bills are adapted for cracking seeds.
