SQUIRRELLY - A Red Squirrel found it's way to the little cage feeder under the eave. Everybody has got to eat. ;-)

TIS' THE SEASON - PART II - Wild Tom Turkeys fight to establish dominance in the flock. We saw two Toms "neck wrestling" that got pretty wild.

Ending up with an obvious injury to one of the birds, possibly both. Several Google sources said that injuries do occur - but they are, thankfully, seldom fatal.

TIS' THE SEASON - Wild Turkeys in our yard are a constant source of amazement. No more so than in Spring, when the Tom Turkeys strut and their faces and waddles change color. Maybe the oddest part of this seasonal makeover is the Turkey snood. The snood is an erectile, fleshy protuberance on the forehead of turkeys. Most of the time it is small and pale - but when male turkeys begin strutting in courtship displays the snood engorges with blood, changes color and elongates, hanging well below the beak. Amazing to see it grow and shrink in a matter of moments.

WINTER SKY - Something about this sky scene had us both singing the Mammas and The Papas 1967 song "California Dreamin".

EASY WALKING - The resident turkey flock has taken to the plowed driveway for easier walking than the deep snow in the woods.
