TIS' THE SEASON - Wild Turkeys in our yard are a constant source of amazement. No more so than in Spring, when the Tom Turkeys strut and their faces and waddles change color. Maybe the oddest part of this seasonal makeover is the Turkey snood. The snood is an erectile, fleshy protuberance on the forehead of turkeys. Most of the time it is small and pale - but when male turkeys begin strutting in courtship displays the snood engorges with blood, changes color and elongates, hanging well below the beak. Amazing to see it grow and shrink in a matter of moments.
