SHARP EYE - An Eastern Phoebe hunts flying insects from a perch over the beaver pond. Phoebes have the habit of dipping their tails gently when they are perched and have a soft whistled song that says their name - FEE bee.

LOVELY DAY on the beaver pond. The Herons have all gone and it is quiet at the beaver pond in late Summer.

PATROLLING THE BEAVER POND - A Slaty Skimmer Dragonfly on a perch above the beaver pond. Dragonflies hunt bugs - which are plentiful at the beaver pond.

THE LAST TAWNY DAY LILY - We have a bed of legacy Day lilies - and this one is the last one of the year

VERY BERRY - Bunchberry berries come into season in late summer. The berries are edible and are high in pectin, a naturally occurring thickener, and can be used in jams, jellies and fruit preserves. We just enjoy ours as the result of Dogwood wildflower.
