BRRRR AGAIN - After a day of warm weather - and even rain - it is back to winter on the beaver pond.

DECEMBER BATH WEATHER - It was warm enough to rain - and warm enough for a Junco to bathe in a puddle on the patio.

MAKING LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS OF WINTER - The annual Luminary Festival at Hampshire Country School lit up the campus with more than 500 lighted bags - many dedicated with donations. Windy conditions made the project a chilly challenge for students and staff.

BROOK ART - Bubbles in the brook from the beaver pond make patterns in the ice. Nature makes the coolest patterns.

SOMETHING TO GROUSE ABOUT - We see Grouse occasionally - like this one off the driveway - as they thrive in logged forests and the wildlife corridors around our forest home.
