WTF? - A Robin - the traditional sign of Spring - in the storm that brought a foot of heavy, wet snow to New Hampshire Thursday. The Spring birds (and we, also) are ready for Spring and finished with the snow for the year.

AT THE START - A Turkey hen looks like most of us feel about the April snow storm that hit overnight. Turkeys were pecking under the bird feeders - as if they knew deep snow was coming.

COSTA RICAN HUMMER - It will be at least another month before we see Ruby-throated Hummingbirds in New Hampshire - but I photographed this Rufous-tailed Hummingbird in Costa Rica recently. The Rufous-tailed is the most abundant Hummingbird among the nearly 20 species of Hummers in the "Birds of Costa Rica" guidebook.

SHOW YOUR TRUE COLORS - A pair of male Bufflehead ducks show iridescent color on their usually black heads as the light strikes just right. Waterfowl are showing up on the area ponds in their Spring migration. These two were among a group of 12 Buffleheads on Mill Pond Sunday.
