THEY'RE BAAAACK - Herons staking claim on a nest on the beaver pond. Winter storms have not been kind to the heron nests on the area ponds - so arriving birds are claiming the available nests.

GONNA BE SPRING - The snow and ice from last weekend's storm melted just in time for the Crocus to emerge, struggling against the cold to open.

PINING FOR MY SHED - A Porcupine emerges from beneath one of our outbuildings. An ice storm last Saturday had the little fellow looking for shelter - and we have seen Porcupines there before - so as long as he stays here and doesn't bother our neighbor's dogs...whattaya gonna do?

FOXY SPARROW - Spring birds are coming back - like this Fox Sparrow rustling on the ground under the Rhododendron.

JUNGLE LOVE - On a night hike in the rain forest in Costa Rica, our guide pointed out two Red-eyed Tree Frogs in this hanging embrace. The flora and fauna of the Costa Rican rain forest was amazing...but I'm glad to be back in our forest for Spring!
