BOY OR A GIRL? - Black-capped Chickadee ready to hit the feeder. Chickadees, like many other birds (and unlike humans), can see ultraviolet light - a whole range of colors beyond purple. Male and female chickadees look alike to us, with white cheeks, but they look quite different to each other, as males have a much stronger ultraviolet reflection on their cheeks.
