BEAVER POND VERSION OF MATERNITY WARD AND NERVOUS DAD - Since male and female Great Blue Herons basically look alike - it is not always possible to determine exactly what I'm seeing in my heron photos. I've been watching the beaver pond herons for many years now - and this looks like a female sitting on eggs with a male posted nearby. The males deliver food to the female on the nest - then both parents hunt and bring food to the chicks.
