GETTING WARMED UP - To conserve energy, Hummingbirds slow down their body processes during the night. To get warmed up in the morning their large flight muscles shiver and their wings vibrate which generates heat to warm their blood supply and bring their body temperature up.

GOLDTHREAD - With their tiny bloom on a leafless stalk, Goldthread are easy to miss on the forest floor, but worth getting on your knees to look at close up.

Thanks for the info about the hummers. I see they are back and watched as one was shivering. Now I understand.
