LAST DAY LILY AND LAST HUMMER? - A female Hummingbird on the last Day Lily of the Summer garden .Both will be gone soon.

STILL HERE, FOR NOW - A female Hummingbird makes the rounds of blooming flowers and hummingbird feeders. We didn't see our reliable male today - so we think he may have left on migration, as the males usually leave first. Several females are buzzing around like they are bulking up to leave also.

NOT MOUSEY - The Tufted Titmouse's name derives from the Old English words "tit" and "mase," basically meaning "small bird."The word "mase" eventually became obsolete and this part of the name morphed into the familiar word "mouse," a convenient switch because the quick-moving little gray bird probably reminded people of the small gray mice.

CUTE NEW BIRD - Immature birds are hard to identify - because they don't usually grow into their "adult" colors right away. I used Merlin Bird ID app to determine that this is an immature Eastern Towhee.

WITHIN REACH - A female Goldfinch reaches out to eat weed seeds along the driveway. The flock of Finches in the yard has grown and they are eating everything in sight.
