POTD 7/2/26
ORANGE YOU GLAD we buy oranges. A male Downy Woodpecker eats oranges from a suet feeder. All the woodpeckers that come to our feeders have had baby woodpeckers that they have taught to eat oranges and suet. We have both on the same maple tree (have for many years) and the woodpeckers are eating an orange every day (more than usual).

Interesting. They learn new feeding habits and pass them on as well!. They are not confined to instinct.

I bought an extra orange feeder because they polish them off so quickly
