WINGING IT - A female Ruby-throated Hummingbird hovers near a feeder. David Sibleys bird behavior book says hummingbirds beat their wings over seventy times per second. That adds up to over 250,000 wing beats per hour - in a year a single bird beats its wings well over half a billion times.

Great photo!! I saw my first female hummer Teo days ago, until then there were just 3 little boys battling heroically all day long.
