SIZE ADVANTAGE - A Dark-eyed Junco is dwarfed by the Nuthatch that stole its seed. Juncos are ground feeders - spending their energy scratching around in the grass. Nuthatches can move up and down on tree bark and on trees is where we typically see them. This Nuthatch saw easy picking where the much smaller Junco was foraging.
