THE EYES HAVE IT - A Carolina Wolf Spider on a greenbean leaf in the garden. I did not know (I looked it up, isn't the Internet amazing?) that most spiders have eight simple eyes - but can clearly see them on this spider.

So, I used to teach about these good Mama spiders: they carry their young around on their backs (don't squish them!) and they eat all the stuff we don't want like Black Widows, cockroaches, poisonous brown recluse spiders, etc. They keep your house protected. If you can't abide occasionally seeing one, you can use of fragrant spray around the foundation of your basement or near points of entry (lavender, lemongrass, etc.)

Never seen one, hope I don't.
