SEEING THE SAPSUCKER -  A male Yellow-bellied Sapsucker visits a familiar ash tree on the edge of the yard. Sapsuckers get their name from the habit of drilling holes in the bark of trees to eat sap and insects trapped in the sticky sap. Sapsuckers make the rounds of the "sap wells" they drill - so they return to the same trees with regularity.
