MAPLE SAP SEASON - A Chickadee takes advantage of a woodpecker hole to drink sap from the wound. Cold nights and warm days have the sap running and we've noticed several birds getting the sap from this woodpecker hole.

Nice photo. Birds are fascinating. Delicate and diverse, resilient and resourceful, surviving conditions we humans couldn't.
This is a super neat photo. It is amazing to look at those little toenails and see how little actual contact with the tree connects this bird. Like, he's just on the teeniest of tips of his toenails on each foot, and that's it, and yet he looks so casual! Birds are magic!
