BIG FLOWER, LITTLE BIRD - A female Ruby-throated Hummingbird takes advantage of a late summer Day Lily bloom. It's the time of the year when we see the hummingbirds bulking up for migration by visiting the feeders and flowers non-stop.

I read somewhere once (I think I read it in a Bernd Heinrich book, actually) that hummingbirds are always 6 hours away from starving, since they are so small and their metabolism is so fast. Makes it all that much more exciting to see one that's well-fed!
