DON'T BUG ME - It's the time of year when the sneaky stink bugs try to come into the house any way they can. This one still on the outside - thankfully. The Brown Marmorated Stink bug does not like to spend time outdoors in cold weather. Stink Bugs are attracted to the warmth and shelter of your house and will enter through any cracks and openings they can find. Don't bug me!

I think that might actually be a western conifer seed bug - they are very similar looking but are a bit longer than the stink bug, which is very shield-shaped. (you can learn about the difference here: https://www.canr.msu.edu/news/western_conifer_seed_bug_or_brown_marmorated_stink_bug)

There is an excellent New Yorker article about brown marmorated stink bugs, from a few years back: https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2018/03/12/when-twenty-six-thousand-stinkbugs-invade-your-home
It is funny and charming and a cautionary tale about these guys. Definitely worth the read!

Nice shot. Thanks for the identification. Marmorated? Interesting.
