BUSYBODIES - David Allen Sibley calls Chickadees the busybodies of the forest, peering into crevices, exploring tangles, studying twigs and pine cones and constantly chattering about it. When they aren't nesting, chickadees are quite social, and travel in small groups of up to ten birds.

They are certainly some of the most curious birds I encounter when out in the woods. I have had several experiences where I was hiking a boundary line or something way out in woods that rarely see people, and the resident chickadees will follow me for short spells, and if I stop they'll come right down and chatter at me from low branches. They are always a welcome sight and a reminder that I am not alone out there! :-)
