GOOD EVENING - Male Evening Grosbeak. Evening Grosbeaks are actually large Finches...and Finches are well known for their strong tendency to roam. It has been a big year for Evening Grosbeaks in our area...due to a bird phenomenon known as an irruption..when birds become abundant in areas where they have been uncommon or rare for several years due to food shortages in their normal territory.
