FIRST MONARCH - So happy to see Monarch butterflies back for the season. Eastern Monarchs migrate in fall to overwinter in fir trees in the mountains of central Mexico. In Spring, 1 or 2 generations pass as they fly back to New England and 1 or 2 more generations pass in New England before the next migration.

Love the Monarch Butterfly! When my children were young, I brought home two cocoons. We protected them and watched them change and emerge into two beautiful butterflies. My children took them gently on a finger outside to one of our trees where the Monarchs clung to the bark of the tree, dried their wings, and eventually flew away. It was an awesome experience for us as a family.
