Nuthatches, like this White-Breasted Nuthatch, have a very different climbing style from most other birds. They do not use their tails for a brace when climbing - just their two feet with sharp claws. They cling to bark and can move in any direction, often hanging head down.

Look at the detail in those feathers! This is a great photo! I hope it makes it on to a calendar or notecards or something! ;-)
