ROCKIN' ROBIN - Early colonists in North America called this bird "robin" because it has a reddish breast like the European Robin they knew from home. The two species are not closely related but the name stuck.
I have a newly built robin's nest above the light on my front porch. It's been fun watching the activity of the parent robins coming and going from the nest. They are never too far when I am sitting on the porch as they keep and eye on me and chirp their anxious warnings. I think they are slowly beginning to realize I am not a threat.
