KESTREL AT BEAVER POND - The American Kestrel is one of the smallest falcons, related to the Peregrine Falcon but a dainty eater of grasshoppers and mice. Numbers of Kestrels have been declining for decades, perhaps due to loss of farmland habitat or increase use of insecticides on farms and lawns.
