Carl Pennington (left), Purdue Ag dept. programmer and programmer Phil Hess set up a micro processor on a small wheat combine. The micro processor automatically records weight of harvested grain samples. This raw data is fed into Purdue computers which with other factors considered gives adjusted yield in bushels per acre. This is the first time Purdue has tried a completely automated system for gathering yield data.
