GRAND MONADNOCK -  Mount Monadnock is the most prominent mountain peak in southern New Hampshire. At 3,165 feet it is nearly 1,000 feet taller than any other mountain peak within 30 miles and rises 2,000 feet above the surrounding landscape. The term "monadnock" is used by American geologists to describe any isolated mountain formed from the exposure of a harder rock as a result of the erosion of a softer one once surrounding it (a landform termed "inselberg" ("island-peak") elsewhere in the world).

GEESE ON THE POND - We were tempted to call this group of geese a gaggle - but the AI result of a Google search revealed that a group of geese on land is a gaggle, a group in the air is a skein or wedge and a group of geese on water is a plump.  This plump seems to be stopping off on their southern migration while there is still open water on the beaver pond.

HAPPY FRIENDSGIVING -  I took a day off from chasing wildlife to celebrate Thanksgiving. To appreciate our good fortune and everything we have to be thankful for. Thanks Vic for taking today's POTD and in case you counted the pies - most of them are for the neighbors.
