THE VERY LAST OF THE GARDEN - A lone cherry tomato hangs on in the garden. Everything else has been gone long ago.

WE NEEDED THE RAIN - After most of the state being declared in extreme drought - we needed the rain that accumulated on an Aspen leaf in the driveway.

JUST THE RIGHT ONE - A Nuthatch tosses a sunflower seed aside to select a different one. Nuthatches (like Chickadees and Titmice) do not eat right at the feeder. They carry food away to be consumed on a perch. The energy to fly back and forth to eat or hide the seed they get makes the choice of seed that much more important. You can see the Nuthatch sorting the seeds, apparently judging the weight, as a way of guessing the fat content to get the most out of the energy expended.

PRETTY AT THE POND- Beautiful Fall weather in New Hampshire makes a beautiful scene at the beaver pond. The water level is really down - but enough water to make a nice reflection.

SPOTTING SOME COLOR - The famous New England Fall foliage has been spotty this year. Spectacular in some spots and other places - not so much. We always get good color along the beaver pond bank, but this year, it is even spotty on the beaver pond.
