THANKS TO THE BUNNY MUNCHER - A little bunny eats grass from our walkway...thanks, bunny, for the help keeping grass off the walk. ;-)

PUDDLE DRIZZLE - A Turkey drinks from a puddle on the driveway. Most birds scoop or draw water into their bills, raising and tilting their heads back to drink. With almost all birds - some leakage occurs.

FAST LEARNER - A juvenile Red-bellied Woodpecker eats oranges. I saw the juvenile woodpeckers being fed by adult birds yesterday - and today this young one is eating on its own. Fast learner!

BEAVER POND ORCHID - A wild orchid - Rose Pogonia blooms along the edge of the beaver pond. Pogonia ophioglossoides, also known as the snakemouth orchid and rose pogonia. Pogonia is from the Greek word pogon meaning "haired" or "bearded" and Ophioglossoides, the species name, derives from several Greek words that refer to a resemblance to a snake's tongue. Rose Pogonia habitat is listed as an obilgate wetland, meaning it grows only in wetlands, usually in full sun.

BRING OUT THE BABIES - A female Red-bellied Woodpecker feeds a juvenile (top) suet. Woodpeckers are the most reliable for bringing their offspring to the yard to teach them where the suet and oranges are.
