WOW JELLYFISH - A tide pool walker's shadow next to a Lion's Mane Jellyfish on Cape Neddick Beach, Maine. The Lion's Mane is one of the largest known species of jellyfish. While they are typically 8-14 inches (like this one) - the largest recorded species was measured off the coast of Massachusetts in 1865 and had a bell with a diameter of 7 feet. Even though this one did not live up to the Lion's Mane namesake of long showy tentacles - it was a cool spot on a day at the beach.
