BRRRRR - The beaver pond under our first snow of the season, showing the beaver "exit" holes in the ice.

ICE BREAKER - A Beaver works at enlarging the hole in the ice it has emerged from. The beaver pond is mostly frozen over - and the beavers swim under the ice for long distances before popping up into holes in the ice they keep open like this fellow is doing.

THANKSGIVING SNOW - The Chickadees did not seem to mind. I'm thankful we didn't get the 9" they predicted.

SLICE OF SUNSET - The sunset is sliced by the forest on a foggy evening in New Hampshire.

NON-PRESIDENTIAL PARDONS - Just like the White House Turkeys that presidents have been pardoning for many years - these Tom turkeys have immunity from the Thanksgiving table. There is some speculation as to which president was the first to start the turkey "pardoning" tradition - but it certainly goes back at to least Kennedy. Some have said President Lincoln's 1863 clemency to a turkey recorded in an 1865 dispatch by a White House reporter was the actual origin of the pardoning ceremony. Rest easy Tom ;-)
