NEW CHICK IN TOWN - A Heron chick, only a few days old, is big enough to be seen over the side of the nest. Hatching is often asynchronous, so chicks hatching at different times are not the same size - so we may see more chicks in this nest in a few days.
SPOTTED - Spotted Sandpiper on the beaver pond. Not a regular - but we have seen Sandpipers on the beaver pond in past years. Always on the lookout and love seeing different things. Patience is rewarded!
BABY'S BACK - Female Ruby-throated Hummingbird perched near the feeder. The males migrate back first - then the females arrive. We've seen the males' aerial courtship display several times since the females have come back.
