BLUEBIRDS, like many other species, build their nests inside a cavity. This is usually an old woodpecker hole - like the one on the beaver pond where we saw this pair yesterday. Both birds were bringing bugs back to the nest, and in this case, the male fed the female, who waited in the entrance for him to bring food.

wow, what a great photo. I have a nesting pair, but they are spoiled, waiting for me to fill the feeder with dried mealworms and living rent free in a wooden box I made over the winter.
